One of the most fun events in the area is coming up in May! Get excited for BBQ Fest on the Neuse. This barbecue festival is going to run May 1 through May 4. You can taste and experience it all in Downtown Kinston.
Schedule of Events
There’s so much to see and do the whole weekend of the festival. Here’s a breakdown of some of the events.
Wednesday, May 1
9 a.m. – Plein Air Paint Out
This annual event allows artists to participate in a juried exhibition and show. Artists work on their paintings throughout the festival and submit them on Saturday, May 4.
3 p.m. – Amusement Rides
Head to Pearson Park to enjoy a Ferris wheel, super shot drop tower, swing ride, dragon wagon, and merry-go-round.
Thursday, May 2
1 p.m. – Caswell Center Foundation Golf Tournament
Get a team together to support Caswell Center Foundation, an organization that works to make life better for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Eastern North Carolina.
Friday, May 3
5 p.m. – BBQ Beef & Brew
Enjoy slow a slow-cooked BBQ beef sandwich to kick off the weekend.
5 p.m.-9 p.m. – ArtsFest
Release your inner artist by painting a pre-designed canvas showing the festival and downtown.
Plus: Live music; wine, beer, and vodka gardens; fireworks to finish out the night

Saturday, May 4
8 a.m. – BBQ judging begins
10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. – Best of the Best Tasting
This is your chance to taste the best BBQ at BBQ Fest On the Neuse! Wristbands will be on sale beginning at 10:30 a.m., and you’ll be able to star tasting once judging is over. Plates and sandwiches will be for sale beginning at 11 a.m. Plates are $8, and sandwiches are $4.
Plus: Brewery tours at Mother Earth Brewing, live music, a vendor’s market in Pearson Park, an Arts Market, a model train show, a kids festival, the Fun Zone, book signings, and more!
